Turing Summer Scholar Adventure

The Turing Scheme is the UK government’s scheme which sets out to provide students with funding for international opportunities in education and training across the world. This funding will be used to contribute towards any costs associated with any Turing Summer Scholar activities.

If you are a current Undergraduate or Postgraduate student or if you are graduating this year and would like to take part in a non-credit bearing Turing Summer Scholars Adventure, then this funding may be for you. In order to be considered for funding the following criteria applies:

  • The Turing Summer Scholar Adventure must have a clear purpose/structure and fall under one of the following categories: Internships, Study, Summer School, Dissertation research, PG research or such like.
  • Proof of acceptance and validity at the receiving institution/employer/Supervisor must be submitted with confirmation of start and end dates included.
  • The Turing Summer Scholars Adventure must be a minimum of 2 weeks or maximum of 8 weeks.
  • The activity must be completed by 31st August 2022.

The current award levels of the Turing Summer Scholar Adventure Scheme are as follows:

  • Base rate for placements lasting between two and eight weeks:
    To Group 1 destinations: £136.25 per week.
    To Group 2 and 3 destinations: £120 per week.
  • Base rates for Widening Access participants for 4-8 week placements:
    To Group 1 destinations: £163.75 per week
    To Group 2 and 3 destinations: £147.50 per week
  • Additional travel grants for Widening Access participants (based on distance as the crow flies per Google maps). :
    10 to 99km: £20
    100 to 499km: £165
    500 to 1,999km: £250
    2,000 to 2,999km: £325
    3,000 to 3,999km: £480
    4,000 to 7,999km: £745
    8,000 to 12,000km: £905
    12,000km+: £1,360
